Dear Friends,
For this Giving Tuesday, we invite you to make a meaningful impact on California’s democracy by supporting the California Voter Foundation (CVF).
In this, our 30th year, CVF has been monitoring several competitive California races in the November 2024 election. This project is giving the public and media a clear picture of how close the margin is in undecided contests and how many ballots remain.
The Close Count Transparency Project is the brainchild of Kim Alexander, who has guided CVF through three decades of changes in elections in California. The project has been featured in stories just this past month in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, CalMatters, Spectrum News and KQED among others.
Who could have guessed so many months ago that control of the House of Representatives would come down to the same contests Kim and our team were watching so closely this November? CVF, that’s who. This project is a continuation of CVF's 2022 pilot project that shined a light on the process of counting votes over time here in California, and how things can change over the 30 days post-election.
Since 1994, CVF and Kim Alexander have worked tirelessly to improve the voting process and increase voter engagement across the state. Your generosity helps us continue this important work, and advocate for policies that ensure every Californian’s voice is heard at the ballot box.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us build a stronger, more inclusive democracy. California has already made declarations about leading the nation in protecting the most vulnerable. Help CVF do the same in the arena of elections. Together, we can make a difference.
You can donate securely via credit card and PayPal, by check made to CVF and sent to P.O. Box 189277, Sacramento, CA 95818, or visit CVF's Donate page for more ways to give. Thank you for supporting this important cause and for being a champion of democracy.
With warm regards,
Cathy Darling Allen, Board Chair
